Summary The Senior Analyst, Special Projects and Controls plays a key role in developing Finance processes, including identifying and advancing cross-functional solutions, supported by policy and process documentation.

This role will manage and oversee large-scale, complex projects focusing on developing robust business solutions while ensuring controls and process clarity exist.

This role is both analytical and tactical in nature, and will be required to conduct primary and secondary analysis and research.

The Senior Analyst, Special Projects and Controls reports to the Corporate Controller and works out of our corporate head office in South Edmonton.

Responsibilities Develop foundational Finance policies and procedures, to minimize business risks, and create process efficiency and scalable cross-functional solutions.

Providing expert advice and guidance on information management, data governance and reporting and analytics solutions.

Maintain a strong internal control environment to ensure continuous compliance with various regulatory requirements, applicable federal and provincial laws and regulations for financial and tax reporting.

Provide timely and accurate analysis of forecasts, financial results, and operating metrics.

Assist with Business Plan development by conducting relevant project research and analysis for purposes of strategy identification and implementation.

Identify and analyze prevailing trends in business practices.

Provide linkage across the Company of analytical methods and definitions.

Contribute to the monthly reporting processes, including account analysis, and/or preparation and review of monthly reconciliations, including but not limited to GL reconciliations and journal entries in an accurate and timely manner.

Identify ways to streamline the day-to-day accounting operations and make processes more efficient.

Assist with the preparation of ad hoc reports, financial or operational reviews and special projects as directed by the leadership team.

Requirements CPA, or equivalent accounting designation, or a Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in accounting.

5-7 years of combined practical experience in the areas of business analysis, project management, business transformation, organizational effectiveness, and business process improvement.

Strong analytical skills through experience working on complex transactions.

Strong knowledge of analytical metrics.

Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a rapidly changing environment.

Proven ability to build relationships at all levels, both internally and externally.

Strong communication skills demonstrated in written and verbal report writing.

Self-starter, previous experience of working in a high performing environment.

Responsive, a strong ability in anticipating needs and delivering on commitments.

Proven ability to identify, evaluate, develop new ideas and deliver results.

Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills.

Strong report writing skills.

Detail oriented and accurate.

Highly proficient in Excel.

Some extended hours of work may be required.
