Job Description Fixed Term, 1 Year Contract The Medical Information Specialist will be responsible for communication of medical/safety information to external customers, primarily healthcare professionals and patients.

Essential Functions Include Provide labeled and unlabeled medical/safety information on contracted products in response to unsolicited requests for information verbally and/or in writing.

Evaluate and interpret medical/safety information from various sources (e.g.

literature, internal clinical data, postmarketing surveillance data).

Conduct searches of published medical literature, review and accurately summarize the literature into standard response letters.

Assist with other special writing projects as needed.

Assist the Medical Communications Coordinator in providing full and compliant documentation per SOPs.

Work directly with pharmaceutical company clients on specific projects.

Provide after-hours beeper coverage on a rotated basis Other activities as assigned.

Qualified Candidates Must Have Qualifications Nursing Degree required.

Minimum: 2-5 years of practical experience in a retail, hospital, managed care, or drug industry setting or have completed a drug information residency.

Multilingual in French Canadian and English is required.

Working knowledge of medical terminology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, regulations and industry standards.

Strong cognitive abilities, including verbal reasoning, critical thinking and analytical ability.

Ability to correctly identify inquirer’s question(s) and formulate and communicate an accurate response utilizing multiple resources for information which may require scientific interpretation.

Excellent interpersonal skills including empathetic customer service skills.

Ability to multitask with attention to detail within restrictive timeframes.

Proactive with demonstrative ability to independently identify problems and suggest effective solutions.

Ability to organize and prioritize in quickly changing environment within resource constraints.

Ability to learn, take instruction and apply to daily operations/tasks.

Receptive to constructive feedback.


Ability to demonstrate initiative and internal drive.

Willingness to seek out additional workload projects.

Effectively work independently and as part of a team.

Highly proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office software platforms and Adobe Acrobat, and experience using a document management system.

Aptitude to learn other computer systems including inquiry handling database.
