AWS Data Engineer The Data Engineer provides expert level consulting, technical planning, technical design/architecture, and operational direction in both modern and legacy databases.

The AWS engineer can provide support and expertise around technologies and techniques for automation in AWS, Infrastructure, and management of infrastructure in a hybrid environment.

Key Responsibilities  Role Breakdown
– 60% Database Admin / 40% Development Operations Production Support and troubleshooting Design and implement and support redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of all data assets.

Technical experience with designing, building, installing, configuring, and supporting database servers Analyze and solve complex technical support incidents and problems in our AWS infrastructure Infrastructure tasks Workload automation in a hybrid Environment (On Prem AWS Cloud) Implementation of security, identity, and access management: IAM in AWS Strong system administration (Linux/Unix or Windows) at the command-line level.

Expertise with Multi-tier architectures: load balancers, caching, web servers, application servers, databases, and networking Designs and supplies code and automation scripting (for example PowerShell) as needed to assist in software development value streams and automation of infrastructure services.

Project tasks Plan and coordinate data migrations, upgrade systems and support of operational business requirements Plan, deploy and support AWS systems as per project requirements.

Process improvement Assess and develop long-term strategic goals for production databases in conjunction with data owners and department managers.

Conduct research and make recommendations on database products, services, protocols, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.

Basic monitoring techniques in a dynamic environment Advocates for design to ensure new technologies, processes and frameworks are leveraged to enable value driven automation.

Contributes to the development and implementation of business cases in order to meet business needs and/or achieve operational effectiveness Education Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Computer Engineering and related AWS certifications.

Microsoft knowledge considered a plus.

Experience 7 Years of experience with 4 years in database administration, information technology, database architecture in an enterprise setting Certifications in relevant Amazon Web Services and 3 years of experience in AWS systems administration Other Skills / Qualifications Technical experience with DBMS; In-depth knowledge of SQL Server, Amazon RDS, Athena and Oracle Databases Solid experience in data engineering and building ETL pipelines Technical experience on cloud technologies of AWS – EC2, EMR, S3, Lambda, SQS, SNS, IAM Database software maintenance and installation processes and techniques Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting skills Relationships between database design/management and application performance Excellent written and oral communication skills; Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff.

Experience with revision control source code repositories Proficient in networking and network security standard methodologies Take part in evolving CI/CD Team player with a solid sense of ownership Knowledge of Service Level Agreements (SLA’s), Operating Level Agreements (OLA’s)
