Embedded Software Engineer

This is a Contract position in Vancouver, ia posted September 12, 2021.

The Embedded Software Engineer will be responsible for development and release of standard embedded control-based product firmware and support testing within established standard effort hours to meet quality metrics.

The successful candidate will be keen to understand the existing firmware, address the additional requirements and take the firmware to the release by following standard quality checks and test procedures.

This position is located in Scarborough, ON, Canada In addition to annual initiatives, the key accountabilities of this position are: Embedded Software Development Develop software for baremetal and RTOS based Embedded Systems, troubleshooting and test requirements within established standard effort hours and meeting quality metrics.

Support other development teams as required.

Take-up the embedded projects activities independently.

Develop test procedures and reports for the software developed.

Develop supporting documentation – SOO, Flow Charts, I&O, Operation & Maintenance Manual.

Maintain, upgrade, and modify embedded systems as needed.

Analyze system technical issues and develop appropriate resolutions.

Follow the company development standards and procedures, including those for documentation.

Coordination Provide support in system testing and bug fixing activities.

Support service personnel in troubleshooting site issues.

Assist manager in developing technical specifications based on customer requirements.

Coordinate with design, development, testing and implementation teams to plan and complete assigned projects within deadlines.

Participate in system design reviews and recommend improvements.

Support in integrating modules to existing systems and perform integrating testing.

Adhere to system development lifecycle processes.

Role Requirements University Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.

3 to 5 years of experience developing embedded software Experience working with engineering, manufacturing, and distribution operations in an industrial environment a plus.

Experience with embedded RTOS a plus.

Experience with drivers and middleware Experience integrating open source software a plus Proficient in coding in Java, C, C++, or Python for embedded system.

Understanding of the hardware used in embedded systems.

Embedded hardware design experience a plus Experience in Testing and debugging issues in an Embedded System.

Understanding of communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, Modbus/BACnet.

Excellent documentation and writing skills.

Creative problem-solving skills, conflict management within different organizations (centralized and matrix organizational structures) Ability to break down complex problems in a simplified way, conduct root cause analysis and provide clear, well thought-out recommendations.

Strong, team-oriented leadership skills with presence and a bias for action.

Self-directed with ability to work autonomously and collaboratively and a focus on results.

Ability to communicate in an open and authentic manner in all situations.
