Tax Specialist

This is a Contract position in Sudbury, ON posted August 5, 2021.

Tax Specialist The opportunity The Tax Specialist will focus primarily on the tax exposure of OTPP and its subsidiaries, by ensuring OTPP and its subsidiaries meet all tax compliance obligations including Canadian, U.S.

and international income tax, HST, VAT and withholding, tax returns.

Who you’ll work with Reporting directly to Senior Manager, Taxation.

You will also work closely with members of the tax department, external advisors, OTPP’s Financial Operations, and Financial Reporting departments.

What you’ll do Oversee tax compliance and coordinate the preparation and filing of subsidiary tax returns utilizing external tax service providers Assist the Senior Tax Analyst and Senior Manager, the Chief Financial Officer and senior management of the Board with assessing tax risk Engage with external advisors and OTPP’s internal departments to facilitate the delivery of high-quality tax compliance services Prepare Canadian returns including corporations, trusts and partnerships, and coordinate the preparation of foreign tax returns by providing information to external tax advisors engaged to prepare the returns Assist in the review of monthly and annual Reg.

105 & Part XIII withholding tax filings Perform analysis of theoretical tax on disposition of investments for tax provision purposes Review changes in tax legislation by analyzing its impact on OTPP and its subsidiaries and assist with advocacy efforts Maintain key metrics for the department and assist with preparation of the department’s budget and forecast.
