Dock Supervisor

If so, we have the ideal job for you Our client, a company specialized in LTL transport, is currently seeking for a Dock Supervisor who will be responsible for the loading and unloading of freight for assigned cross dock areas.

The person will be responsible for making sure to achieve the business objectives.

Main responsibilities: Plan, organize and control various activities relating to the loading and unloading of freight.

Plan daily manpower needs to ensure the customers’ freight is delivered on time and damage free.

Communicate with dispatch and dock workers to coordinate the movement of trailers and freight.

Conduct pre-shift meetings/briefings to communicate values, strategies and company objectives.

Prioritize the transfer of freight and next-day delivery.

Ensure the timely and efficient movement of freight on a daily basis.

Supervise, coach, train and advise lead hand and dockworkers.

Prepare and issue shift reports to all relevant personnel.

Deal with employee-related issues such as reviews and discipline.

Enforce Health and Safety rules, policies and procedures.

Carry out any other responsibilities required for the position.

Requirements: Minimum of 3 years of experience in the transportation industry in an Operation’s role.

Operational Certifications (Forklift, TDG and WHMIS).

Must possess thorough knowledge of the LTL industry.

Knowledge of OS&D.

Computer literacy and comfortable with MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Knowledge of AS400, an asset.

Knowledge of dispatch operations, an asset.

Have organization skills and good management of priorities.

Be able to work independently and ensure KPI’s are met.

Be able to make sound decisions under pressure and to meet deadlines.
