Maintenance Supervisor

We are currently looking for a Maintenance Supervisor to join our team in our Delta facility.

Dessert Holdings is a leading baked goods platform providing premium layer cakes, cheesecakes, brownies, bars, and other desserts to the retail in-store bakery (“ISB”) and foodservice channels on a largely private label basis. At the Original Cakerie in Delta, we care about our employees. We’re looking for the right fit – someone to take ownership of a team of Millwrights and Electricians on a day shift from Sunday – Thursday.


Responsibilities & Duties:                                

  • Ensure all safety & production GMP standards are communicated, posted and adhered to.
  • Ensures a safe work environment for employees, customers, and visitors. This includes monitoring working practices and adherence to safety procedures.
  • Managing the preventative maintenance program designed to keep downtime to a minimum and ensuring there is an adequate supply of spares to replace broken or worn out machine parts.
  • Organize and manage the key maintenance department activities across all shifts
  • Quality, duration, cost, and thoroughness of the completed job
  • Provide feedback and support to department staff, including weekly meetings focused on safety and performance.
  • Accountable to source and supervise contractors for repairs and maintenance beyond scope of work force. Oversees work performed by contractors to ensure quality workmanship and specification compliance.
  • Balance motivation and discipline by interfacing with each technician at least once daily and visiting significant jobs two or three times daily
  • Give adequate time and attention to formal and on-the-job training of each team member
  • Identify and provide the skills training needed by each team member
  • Having the daily job always ready for each technician
  • Improves equipment reliability applying systematic methodologies.
  • Periodically verifies the department procedures execution
  • Keep permanent QMS/BRC full compliance regarding maintenance responsibilities
  • Align self and Maintenance Staff to the Department Mission, Operations Team, Product Strategies and to the Mission of TOC
  • Ensure the Maintenance Manager is informed of all activities that impact day to day production. 


?Position Requirements:

  • Familiarity with Work Safe BC regulations required
  • Engineering degree or Maintenance Management Professional preferred
  • Equivalent mechanical/electrical supervision experience will be considered
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in an industrial setting, maintenance planning and supervision is required
  • Strong electrical background , familiar with PLC , VFT and HMI Panels
  • Ability to work various maintenance shifts on occasion
  • Previous experience with computerized maintenance management systems would be an asset.
  • Maintain the highest standards with respect to safety at all times, leading by example and ensuring employees follow all policies, procedures, practices and regulations
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Strong business focus
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work effectively in a highly interactive team environment
  • Detail/results oriented
  • Ability to function under pressure
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize numerous tasks with conflicting deadlines
  • Labour relations experience
  • Experience in a food processing environment is preferred
