The Kativik Regional Government (KRG) is a supra-municipal organization with jurisdiction over the territory of Québec located north of the 55th parallel.

The KRG is currently seeking to recruit an energetic and motivated candidate to work in Kuujjuaq, in the capacity of; Environmental Specialist(Permanent, Full-time position)Reporting to the Assistant Director Environment and Lands the Environmental Specialist will be working closely with the Environmental Team and in partnership with other departments of KRG.

More specifically, the Environmental Specialist will:Provide assistance and expertise in general environment issues to the KRG, and / or the Northern Villages (NV); Implement the Residual Material Management Plan, in collaboration with the NVs and other partners of the Plan; Provide technical assistance to the NVs for the implementation of new waste management methods and practices, including the preparation of information, awareness and education activities for the public, as well as the organization of training for municipal employees.Undertake environmental inspections in the NVs and in the region; Collaborate with the Ministry of, Environment on environmental matters; Assist the KRG and or NVs in applying for certificates of authorization under Chapter 1 of the Environmental Quality Act; Assist the environmentaltechnicians on any of their environmental duties; Perform any other dutiesas required.Qualifications:University degree in environmental studies or in a related field (a master degree in environmental studies or in a related field would be considered an asset); Minimum 2 years’ experience in the field of waste management; Excellent organizationalskills; Strong oral and written communication skills; Demonstrated ability to work efficiently with limited supervision; Strong team work and relationship management competencies; Good understanding of Aboriginal issues and the North in general is considered an asset; Ability to communicate orally and in writing in at least two of the following languages: Inuktitut, English, French; Working knowledge of computer software applications (Microsoft Office 2010); Ability to travel frequently throughout Nunavik.Place of work: KuujjuaqSalary: Min; $50 950/year, Max: $87 221/year (Class 9)Other benefits: Cost of living differential: Minimum of $8 500/yearFood allowance: Minimum of $3 707/yearAnnual leave trips: maximum of 3 per person annuallySimplified Pension Plan: 6% employer, 4% employeeGroup InsuranceVacation: 20 days/yearStatutory Holidays: 19 days including 10 during Christmas holidaysPlease submit your resume before 5 o’clock, on April 6, 2021.The KRG is an equal opportunity employer.
