Senior Director, Public SectorEnterprise TransformationOttawa/Toronto/MontrealFull TimeThe Senior Director, Public Sector will be responsible for driving Morneau Shepell’s growth in the government sector in Canada.

The firm currently counts many Federal and Provincial government ministries and agencies as clients and has a strategic goal to grow this sector by forging stronger partnerships.

This ‘government as a client’ initiative is a core growth strategy of the company, with broad support and visibility amongst the senior leadership team at Morneau Shepell.Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Communications and National Capital Region, the successful candidate will also work closely with Morneau Shepell’s senior leadership team across all regions of the country, in addition to those individuals responsible for public sector contracts and initiativesThe successful incumbent will be accountable for driving the ‘government as a client’ initiative from inception to delivery.

This initiative will primarily all lines of business currently offered by Morneau Shepell.

The mandate of the Senior Director is to drive the growth of Morneau Shepell business within the Federal and Provincial government ministries and agencies.

The focus of this role will be on the core Government sector, as follows:General GovernmentFederal Government Departments (e.G.

Department of Justice, Canada Border Service, Canada Revenue Agency)Provincial Government Departments (e.G.

Province of Quebec, Ontario Ministry of Finance, Province of Nova Scotia, Government of Alberta)Government EnterpriseFederal Crown Corporations and Agencies (e.G.

Canada Post, CBC, RCMP, Supreme Court of Cda, Cda Food Inspection)Provincial Crown Corporations and Agencies (e.G.

CARRA, OPG, BC Hydro, APS, Loto-Quebec)More specifically, the successful candidate will:Create an inventory and track Morneau Shepell’s government business including key relationships within Morneau Shepell and the governmentDevelop an enterprise-wide strategy to better penetrate government as a client, including mapping the opportunity, set (both actual and potential) and prioritizing initiatives and quick winsDrive execution of the strategy across Morneau Shepell working collaboratively with different regions and lines of business to co-ordinate operation delivery to achieve our financial goals in this sectorPlay an active role in identifying opportunities, establishing connections for our regions and lines of business with the right people in the Government sector to build our businessPlay an active role in the development of new business by coordinating our pursuit teams, and playing an active role in proposals and presentations as part of the procurement processProviding subject matter expertise to regional leaders regarding the “who/when/how” to build government relationshipsQualifications:Ideally 10 years of experience in public sector roles, and a sound understanding of governments and how they function preference will also be given to candidates with experience and established relationships in the Federal and Ontario governmentsStrong and relevant connections in the core Government sectors that are the focus of our strategy preference will be given to candidates with experience in the finance, treasury board, management board or human resources branches within GovernmentExceptional relationship management skills and the ability to build and grow connections with multiple stakeholdersProven project management experience with demonstrated ability to lead by influence, and a track record of managing and delivering large-scale initiativesStrong personal presence, and a persuasive and adept style at fostering effective and collaborative working relationships both in and outside the organizationProven strategic ability to identify, quantify and prioritize opportunities and to translate this into operational initiatives that drive the businessProfessional/Personal Qualities:Respected, seasoned executive with a reputation for mature judgement, outstanding interpersonal skills, and highly developed multi-party collaboration skillsAbility to find effective solutions to complex issues using an array of analytical approachesArticulate, credit, well-developed media relations and persuasive public speaking skillsPersonal credibility and presence with senior government and business executives, the board and staffAbility to facilitate broad discussions, highlight issues, negotiate options and develop a broad acceptable consensus amongst diverse stakeholdersThorough knowledge of the procurement processA reputation for integrity Job Grade: MS8 Fulfilling work that matters Morneau Shepell is in the business of helping organizations help their people and in the process, we strive to elevate ours.
