Responsibilities: a.
Facilitates and creates programs b.
Implements and evaluates recreational programs based on residents’ needs, available resources and company policy c.
Takes an active role in continuous quality improvements and communicates recommendations to the Lifestyle Director d.
Drives the van as required (includes aiding residents in and out of van; lifting walkers/wheelchairs in and out of van) e.
Visits residents on a one-on-one basis Job Requirements: a.
Demonstrated ability to implement and participate in appropriate recreation/ leisure activities for seniors b.
Successful completion of post secondary courses relevant to geriatrics and/or recreation an asset c.
Practical experience working with elderly persons in a retirement community setting d.
First Aid and CPR certificates e.
Valid NS Drivers License and clear abstract f.
Ability to work a variety of shifts: days, evenings & weekends g.
Ability to relate to elderly persons showing courtesy and understanding
