Communications Officer


This is a Contract position in Hannon, ON posted February 26, 2021.

Salary (Grade: 07) Hiring salary range $51309
– $64,811 Position Purpose Implements Professional Development Institute (PDI) communications strategies as they apply to webpage updates, design of new pages and microsites, social media, email-based marketing and print communications, while complying with University of Ottawa branding and Ontario accessibility law requirements.

Essential Qualifications Knowledge of communication and writing skills in drafting, normally acquired through post-secondary training in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role Proven experience in web design and management, ideally involving e-commerce, presenting clear, appealing content consistent with specific communication goals Knowledge of principles of promotional writing, including for social media and other relevant platforms Advanced written and verbal skills in French and English Ability to find solutions to production and coordination issues Experience using tools to evaluate digital media Knowledge of web communications and best practices in design, ergonomics and user experience Knowledge of current web accessibility standards and means to comply with them (WCAG 2.0) Ability to work on several projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines Good teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills Self-reliance and sense of responsibility Key Competencies Key competencies required at the University of Ottawa: Planning: Organize in time a series of actions or events in order to realise an objective or a project.
