Security Clearance Coordinator Be part of a global mining organization with a strong focus on safety Work with an exceptional team of operations and productivity people Opportunity to introduce and implement continuous improvement initiatives About the role We are looking for a Security Clearance Coordinator who is responsible for identifying and mitigating security risks by screening all candidates requiring access to DDMI’s facilities in compliance with company policies.

This role plays a critical function as Product Splitting Facility (PSF) Security Officer, responsible for providing an effective physical security presence and security response capability at the Diavik Diamond Mines Inc.

(DDMI) PSF in Yellowknife to ensure the human resources and assets are protected from both internal and external security threats.

The incumbent will be responsible for processing pre-employment applications and be dedicated towards Security Officer functions at the PSF.

Reporting to the Supervisor, Security and Intelligence in Yellowknife Product Splitting Facility (PSF), the incumbent works a seven-days-on/seven-days-off rotation in an office environment in the interim with the potential that this change in the future, once the COVID-19 pandemic normalizes at the Diavik mine site.

, with a requirement from time to time to work additional hours on an as need basis or on company travel.

The main responsibilities will be: Working closely with and be guided by direction from the Supervisor, Security and Intelligence on matters relative to the security pre-employment screening program; Reviewing criminal history information and determine candidate access suitability by consistently applying relevant company policies and making sound decisions; Facilitating access control in conjunction with Human Resources, Site Security, and PSF Security; Managing and maintaining software systems to minimize clearance processing time and to facilitate accurate records to meet or exceed audit standards; Ensuring compliance with PIPEDA, DDMI Privacy policies and observe document retention and destruction periods accordingly; Ensuring business wide compliance with screening policies and standards and drive culture change when required; Providing on-going assessment of clearance documents, policies, and systems to align with changing business needs; Actively develop and participating in strategies to protect DDMI’s human resources and assets; Developing and submitting relevant information, statistics, and identifiable trends for intelligence analysis; Utilizing the departmental Incident Report System-PERSPECTIVE when required; Conducting detailed background investigations when required; Drafting routine correspondence quickly and accurately and provide clerical support as required; Managing Secure Document Control System; Performing other administrative duties when required; Training a replacement within the Security Department to fill in during times of absence; Working with the Surveillance Intelligence Analyst to identify persons of risk to DDMI; Attending the court house to perform open source information searches as required of the NT court registry data bases; Compiling intelligence, statistics and analysis relevant to the role.

SECURITY OFFICER Monitoring security systems and alarms; Coordinating security response activities, recording security events and prepare activity reports; Responding to security and emergency incidents; Conducting searches in accordance with DDMI policies and procedures; Maintaining surveillance by monitoring live activities within high-risk security areas using closed circuit television (CCTV) and distinguishing between approved and unauthorized processing activities; Performing guarding and patrolling duties; Acting as an escort for valuables by escorting product shipments according to shipping procedures and coordinating the receipt and dispatch of diamond consignments; Performing security escorts and external security inspections; Identifying and responding to diamond spillage; Processing and performing inductions of visitors by promoting Security Awareness, facilitating the authorized arrival of visitors and contractors and activating and issuing visitor identification passes with appropriate security access; Inducting visitors and contractors to the PSF and deliver emergency and security information that will promote compliance throughout the understanding of safety and security objectives; Additional duties when and as needed.

About you To be successfully considered for this role, you will have: Highly developed literacy and numeric skills; Experience in the security industry or law enforcement or equivalent would be an asset; Required to successfully complete a criminal records check, police clearance and psychological testing; DDMI office safety policies, procedures, practices and standards; Knowledge of relevant security legislation including PIPEDA, Criminal Code of Canada, Human Rights, etc.; Knowledge of investigation and interviewing procedures and methods; Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing statistical information, reports, and database management; Highly developed organization, communication, time management, stress management and prioritization skills; Ability to effectively resolve problems and make sound decisions with minimal supervision; Strong interpersonal and professional networking skills; Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint; Ability to operate office equipment (fax machine, photocopier, scanner etc.); Proven proficiency in office management procedures and protocols including document control, data entry and accounting; Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial and statistical information.

Northern residency and experience working in a cross-cultural environment, coupled with knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities presented to those living in the North, are assets.
