District Operations Manager

Xplornet Communications Inc.

This is a Full-time position in Hawkesbury, ON posted March 25, 2021.

We are looking for a District Operations Manager to join our Operations team based out of our Calgary, AB office.

In this role, you will be responsible for fulfilling and managing the work force required to meet work order capacity requirements for your region.

This includes fulfilling installer capacity and performance managing all installers within your region (through the hiring of partners with technicians and full time internal technicians) according to defined strategy.

You will become the customer advocate for this area, focusing on achievement of the installation, repair, conversion and recovery work order requirements for all our customers by working with the national control centre, our channel partners and internal technicians.

You will be accountable to the VP of the Region and partner with the National Operations Centre for key work order performance indicators.

Key responsibilities include:
• Attract and retain a high performing team of partner channel and internal technicians, ensuring commitment to fulfilling work order capacity requirements of the region, per direction and budget provided by National Control Team and Regional Leader.

• Onboard partner channel team, ensure coverage availability for completion of work orders, provide complete information to allow for setup of new partners in Xplornet systems, and facilitate creation of partner agreements.

• Train all partners/dealers on administrative processes and use of systems, ensuring policies and procedures are clearly communicated and followed to ensure success for all.

• Coach channel partners and their teams to support company plans and objectives.

Assign realistic goals and hold channel partners accountable to these goals.

Evaluate and manage performance of channel partners and back office teams, providing direction on standard practices, assisting in problem solving, and ensuring capacity requirements are being met.

Provide detailed channel visit summaries outlining key issues discussed, tactics to achieve objectives, and areas of improvement with action plans.

• Establish exceptional business relations with channel partners, providing inspired leadership as well as demonstrating a high level of respect and integrity.

Your business acumen will elevate this position to a role of trusted partner with the National Control Centre team in all operational aspects of your region.

• Work with Supply Chain as required, ensuring all inventory requirements for technicians are met.

Ensure all partners and internal technicians are following all inventory management processes according to Supply Chain policies and processes.

Gain an understanding of district/regional platform and equipment needs, and escalate issues/work collaboratively to have them resolved.

• Occasionally participate in larger operational projects (i.e.

projects related to new software, processes, products, conversion programs etc.).

• Develop deep knowledge of your regional market, customers and competition, anticipating opportunities to exceed both external and internal customer expectations at all times by collaborating with other parts of the company to communicate local knowledge gained.

Act as an ambassador by professionally representing the Xplornet Brand.

Foster relationships with key business and political leaders within the district, and position and promote XCI as the leader in rural high-speed internet.

• Partner with your Regional Leader, Channel Support, Sales Managers, Supply Chain, and other internal teams regarding opportunities in the areas of inventory/distribution, sales, capacity management and marketing.

The ideal candidate will possess:
• Post-secondary education in related field
• Minimum 5 years’ progressive experience in operational and business development.

• Experience within the telecommunications industry is strongly preferred
• Ability to travel within the region (approximately 50%) and nationally when required
• Demonstrated ability to ‘think outside the box’ and find creative solutions.

• Superior analytical skills and ability to ‘see beyond the numbers’ in order to make and influence necessary changes and decisions.

• Experience managing to daily KPI and critically assesses team performance, and make changes where necessary to meet objectives accordingly.

• Experience as a trusted advisor to peers, providing support in developing others.

• History of building collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an open style that will encourage others to seek your opinion
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining tight deadlines and juggling multiple projects
• Drive for achieving superior operational results.

• Proven track record of actively coaching, developing and stretching others to their full potential
• Thrive in a dynamic and fast paced environment where change is ongoing
• Passion for the latest technology with the ability to relay that passion
• Knowledge of the Canadian Internet Service Provider (ISP/WISP) market and relevant technologies is an asset
• Previous experience presenting to small and medium sized groups
• Strong business acumen, including the ability to understand a P & L
• Practical experience with a variety of software packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook is required
• Valid driver’s license required; as well as use of your own vehicle
