We are currently seeking an out-going, detail oriented team player who will represent the DSV Global Values; Customer, Performance and Colleagues by joining our Surrey operations team as a Operations Manager.

SUMMARY The Operations Manager will have strong knowledge of the operational and planning requirements of all existing accounts and have overall training and evaluation responsibilities of warehouse staff.

The incumbent must be proficient in all levels of packing and equipment use; and will assume responsibility of planning and prioritising all daily and long-term operations and warehouse usage.

Applicants must have working knowledge of personal computer-based receiving systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Plan daily work schedules by reviewing existing work orders, arrival notices, and instructions from customers.

Assess priorities based on time sensitivity and available resources.

Assign duties to appropriate warehouse staff.

Review pending jobs or trends, plan for reorganization of warehouse space, and needed changes in levels of supplies, equipment, or staffing needs.

Train new staff in assigned duties, delegate training responsibility to experienced Specialist.

Assess progress of trainees, and add additional duties as appropriate.

Assign supervisory duties to experienced Specialists acting as leads for lower level warehouse staff.

Keep abreast of progress or problems.

Keep Manager advised of progress or problems requiring attention on a daily basis.

Hold regular meetings with warehouse staff to assess group’s overall status.

Discuss ideas for improvement and keep staff informed of new developments.

Provide ideas and suggestions for more efficient operations.

Promote a positive relationship with clients by providing excellent customer service.

Insure their needs are met when working through a third party.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education and/or Experience Completion of high school, plus four years of related higher education or international transportation industry experience, and a minimum of five years on-the-job training in the logistics industry.

The ability to deal effectively in a supervisory capacity, using tact, diplomacy and negotiation skills.

Strong understanding of WMS Systems (EXE).

Effective verbal communication skills and past customer service experience is required.
